Job Description
Tour guides are storytellers. They have the privilege and the challenge of representing the unique and diverse student experience at Ohio University.
OHIO tour guides participate in all campus visits hosted by Undergraduate Admissions, including daily visits, large special visit programs, special group visits, individual VIP tours, and question-and-answer panels.
The tour guide's main role is to give 90-minute walking tours of campus while answering questions, describing campus facilities, and sharing stories of the OHIO experience. Tour guides also might work at the check-in desk for visitors attending admission information sessions, or the Undergraduate Admissions reception desk in Chubb Hall.
Successful applicants will be able to clearly articulate passion and enthusiasm for Ohio University, display leadership qualities, and excel in speaking to large, diverse audiences.
Some evening and weekend work is required.
Successful candidates are subject to a reference check, background check, and judicial review.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Must be an undergraduate student in good standing (academics and community standards) at Ohio University
2. Must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 and be enrolled at Ohio University during the terms of interview and employment
3. Must have completed at least one semester of classes prior to Spring 2025.
4. Must work well with the public and be able to perform duties independently with minimal supervision.
5. Good public speaking, interpersonal communication, and writing skills
6. General knowledge about Ohio University and the Athens community
7.Organized, dependable, and reliable
Preferred Qualifications
Engagement with campus and community organizations and passion for the Ohio University experience.
