The Transportation Assistant is responsible for driving the facility vehicle to transport residents, staff and volunteers to desired destination. Essential Functions Statement(s)
Transports residents to doctor's appointments and other activities
May be requested to run errands or perform other related activities
Conducts safety checklist according to policy
Maintains vehicles in clean condition
Reports observations of structural, equipment and furniture defects/malfunctioning to appropriate personnel
Maintains confidentiality of necessary information
Handles unusual occurrences calmly and logically to maintain continuity of business and duties
Follows all appropriate safety and security guidelines, procedures and protocol for residents in the Special Care Unit
Maintains appropriate, effective communication with residents, and with residents' family or other significant relationships
Provides all care, treatment and services with appropriate dementia care protocols
Performs all other duties as assigned or directed

Skills & Abilities
Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Preferred
Experience: Six (6) months or more of related experience
Computer Skills: Must possess basic computer skills
Certifications & Licenses: Must possess a valid driver's license; Must obtain and maintain mandatory, state/federal requirements and certifications for practice or occupation
Other Requirements: Previous commercial drivers experience, preferred; Must be able to read, write, understand and speak the English language; Must be able to work with residents, community staff and physician office personnel; Must be able to adhere to all terms and conditions set forth in the United Church Homes Employee Handbook
