Job Description:

The Admission Counselors at Marietta College play a vital role in shaping the future of our campus community. Collaborating with various departments across campus, they work together to achieve enrollment goals while providing exceptional support to prospective students. Counselors meet with prospective students and applicants both on and off campus, answering questions, sharing insights, and highlighting the unique opportunities at Marietta College to help students make informed decisions about their future.

In addition to their on-campus responsibilities, our Admission Counselors are expected to travel for recruitment events, which include overnight stays. This travel allows them to connect with prospective students and families, bringing the spirit of Marietta College to communities far and wide.

Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of a recruiting plan.
  • Meet territory recruitment goals.
  • Work collaboratively with Admissions staff to coordinate recruitment initiatives.
  • Represent Marietta College at College Fairs.
  • Represent Marietta College at High School/Community College recruitment visits.
  • Counsel prospective students and their parents regarding admission requirements, academic programs, financial aid and scholarships, resident life and housing, and student organizations and activities.
Requirements:

Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Must be able to work well with diverse students, faculty, and administration on all levels.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Must possess strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must possess strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to use discretion and judgement appropriately under the highest level of confidentiality.
Required Experience & Education:
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Previous experience recruiting students in a higher education environment is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license and ability to be insured by Marietta College's liability carrier.
Physical requirements:
  • Occasionally required to move or transport items weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Position requires mobility to travel; withstanding travel by several modes of transportation.
  • Use of office equipment including computers, printers, copiers with lifting of less than 20lb occasionally to fill machines or move files.
