Overview:

Pickering Associates, a leading Architectural, Engineering and Surveying firm, is seeking a driven and experienced leader to grow and manage our Educational Sector that partners with clients across West Virginia, Ohio, and beyond. This role is ideal for someone with a background in design, construction or facilities management for educational buildings who also thrives on building relationships, driving business development, and representing our firm externally.

We are looking for a client-focused professional who understands the unique requirements of educational facilities-from capital project planning to ongoing maintenance-and can partner closely with school districts, higher ed institutions, and public agencies to shape their built environments.

The successful candidate will work with many dynamic Architects and Engineers on an array of projects. This opening is a full-time role located in one of our WV offices that will require frequent day travel reporting directly to the CEO.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead the growth strategy for Pickering's Educational Design & Facilities sector
  • Develop and execute a strategic sales and marketing plan
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for education sector clients and prospects
  • Represent Pickering at conferences, trade shows, and industry events
  • Evaluate and pursue project opportunities through the QBS (Qualifications-Based Selection) process
  • Guide proposal development and review qualifications packages with the Marketing Team
  • Oversee contracts, client onboarding, and project launch for educational clients
  • Ensure client satisfaction and long-term relationship building
  • Collaborate with internal Architecture and Engineering teams to deliver successful outcomes
  • Lead internal and external communications and initiatives specific to the education market
Requirements

What You Bring:
  • 10+ years of experience in educational construction or facilities management
  • Deep understanding of K-12 and/or higher education building systems, capital projects, and stakeholder needs
  • Proven track record of developing client relationships and managing complex projects
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Ability to travel regionally as needed

Salary: $100,000 - $130,000 (Salary range is negotiable and flexible)
