What you will do:

The Safety Technician at Ferroglobe is responsible for assisting the Safety Manager in implementing safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure a safe workplace through compliance with health, wellness, environmental, and safety laws. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail to identify and mitigate potential hazards, effectively communicate the importance of safety to employees, and proactively discover opportunities for safety improvements. The ability to interpret and clearly communicate OSHA guidelines and administrative rulings is essential. The ultimate goal is to achieve zero accidents and exceed industry standards for occupational health and safety. Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

  • Daily Facility Walkthroughs: Conduct daily walkthroughs of the facility at the beginning and end of each shift to assess the workplace for potential hazards.
  • Communication: Maintain daily communication with employees and management regarding safety needs and requirements.
  • Hazard Identification: Identify and remediate any discovered safety issues, adopting preventive measures.
  • Safety Awareness: Display a comprehensive understanding of safety, environmental, and health issues.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Ensure compliance with safety laws and procedures.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and recommend solutions to safety issues, and support the adoption of preventive initiatives.
  • Accident Investigation: Assist the Safety Manager in accident investigations and implementing corrective action measures.
  • Project Support: Work on safety-related projects of limited complexity in a support role.
  • Management: Contractor management expereince
  • Training: Speaking in front of small groups on safety training for new hires and current employee's.

What we seek:

  • Degree: Associate's Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Management, or related field, or relevant work experience.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and objectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Solid understanding of safety, environmental health issues, laws, and OSHA regulations.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills with the ability to complete tasks assigned by management promptly.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail with a proactive approach.
  • Shift Availability: Availability to work all shifts, including evenings and weekends.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Powerpoint

  • Wears proper PPE in the manufacturing area (shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection)
