JOB STATEMENT/SUMMARY

Compiles data and prepares invoices and bills by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION
• Print and prepare all paper primary and secondary insurance claims for mailing.
• Prepare and transmit all electronic billing for primary and secondary insurance claims.
• Post payments from mail per Accounts Receivable Policy and maintain accurate records

and reports.
• Correct returned claims or route to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
• Print patient statements and collection letters monthly according to Collection Policy.
• Write-off overdue accounts monthly prior to the closing of the month after collection efforts

have been made in accordance with the Collection Policy.
• Fill out overpayment forms for Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance as

necessary in accordance with regulating bodies.
• Call insurance companies to clarify incorrect remittance, duplicate payments, etc.
• Handle billing calls from third parties, payers, and patients.
• Prepare and send refund checks to patients or insurance companies.
• Credential new providers with necessary insurance companies and re-credential existing

provides as required.
• Maintain records for Medicare Bad Debts and give to accounting firm when yearly audit is

done.
• Ensure that we are receiving and sending electronically to all insurance companies that

have electronic capabilities.
• Maintain current medical coding and diagnosis information for appropriate billing practices.
• Provide direction to front office staff to assure accurate data entry into CHIS.
• Conduct self in professional manner and manage conflict quickly and in a direct and

respectful manner.
• Maintain good working relationship with co-workers.
• Employee will adhere to all parts of Coplin Health Systems compliance program's

mandates, timelines, and activities.
• Employee may be required to perform other duties as assigned or when necessary. If

such work becomes a permanent and regular part of the job, a revised job description will

be presented.

Education (level and type) and Related Work Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED): and one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of and experience using a computer. Knowledge of medical terminology is required.

This position is described as light physical activity job.
