Harmar Place Community Receptionist

The receptionist is responsible for operating the switchboard and performing routine clerical tasks, as assigned. Essential functions include answering telephones in a polite and professional manner, determining the nature of calls and directing them to the appropriate individual or department. The receptionist greets and provides directions/information to guests, residents, resident families, sales representatives, etc. They take complete and accurate messages, assist the business office manager with maintaining and distributing patient funds, and perform miscellaneous clerical functions, including typing and filing, as assigned. The receptionist receives mail and performs initial sorting, accepts money, cash or check, and records accurately. They report observations of structural, equipment, and furniture defects/malfunctioning to appropriate personnel, maintain confidentiality of necessary information, utilize supplies and equipment properly and without waste, and handle unusual occurrences calmly and logically to maintain continuity of business and duties. All other duties as assigned or directed.

Competency statements include accountability, accuracy, communication, oral and written, customer oriented, detail oriented, honesty/integrity, interpersonal, and organized. Education: high school graduate or general education degree (GED) required. Experience: no prior experience necessary. Computer skills: must be able to proficiently operate a computer, the internet, and basic office equipment. Other requirements include the ability to read, write, understand, and speak the English language, prior computer experience helpful, and the ability to work with direct supervisor, all staff, residents, visitors, and the public.
