As the Supplier Quality Commodity Manager for Extrusion, you will lead quality initiatives for the extrusion commodity, ensuring the reliability and compliance of externally sourced components and materials. This pivotal role bridges procurement, engineering, and quality assurance, driving supplier development, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement. As the quality lead for extrusion, you'll manage supplier performance, conduct audits, and ensure adherence to regulatory standards while supporting new product introductions and strategic sourcing decisions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Develop and implement supplier quality strategies for assigned commodities, working closely with supply chain and the quality assurance team.
Drive proactive solutions and development that improve overall supplier performance. Support supplier performance and risk processes to create predictive measures that prevent issues impacting facilities or customers.
Assume overall responsibility for the commodity's quality performance in alignment with assigned KPIs.
Conduct supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance with quality standards.
Monitor, measure, and act on supplier performance using KPIs such as PPM, on-time delivery, and corrective action responsiveness.
Serve as a quality expert for the specific commodity and collaborate with engineering and sourcing to define quality requirements and specifications.
Lead supplier quality efforts in supplier selection, standardize procedures, coordinate with supply chain, and ensure delivery of quality suppliers.
Drive supplier escalations and resolution using problem-solving methodologies (8D, A3, DMAIC), and monitor solutions to prevent recurrence.
Support supplier transfers, new product introductions, and projects impacting commodity suppliers.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members on supplier management, new product design, and component qualifications.
Instill quality processes and best practices internally and at suppliers. Assist in developing new processes to improve supplier quality.
Lead and manage continuous improvement activities for the supplier quality team as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education
Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, supplier quality, or operations field.
MBA preferred.
Experience
Minimum 7 years in a similar role or related experience at a global manufacturing company.
Experience with extrusion.
Preferred: Experience in the medical device industry.
Skills
Supplier relationship management and negotiation.
Executive-level communication and stakeholder management in a global company.
Excellent verbal and written communication, analytical, leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple issues using available resources and prioritization.
Strong analytical skills to evaluate alternatives and present recommendations.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and thrive in a continuous improvement environment.
Proficiency in relevant PC software applications.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Preferred but not required: Supplier Quality Engineer, Quality Engineer, or Six Sigma certification.
