Business Analyst - Richmond, VA (Hybrid)

Contract Duration: 3 Months

Seeking for a detail-oriented and analytical Financial Business Analyst to enhance our custom financial systems. This role is vital in bridging finance and technology, ensuring that business requirements are accurately translated into functional system solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with finance stakeholders to gather and document business requirements.
  • Translate business needs into functional specifications and process flows.
  • Work with developers, architects, and QA teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements in financial processes.
  • Support the implementation and configuration of financial modules like GL, AP/AR, and budgeting.
  • Perform data analysis and validation to ensure system accuracy.
  • Develop test plans and execute User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Create user documentation and provide end-user support.
  • Assist in system integrations with enterprise platforms such as ERP and CRM.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and data security requirements.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience as a Business Analyst in finance or financial systems.
  • Strong understanding of financial processes, including general ledger and financial reporting.
  • Experience with custom-built or configurable financial systems.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools like Excel, SQL, and Visio.
  • Familiarity with SDLC and agile methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to translate complex financial rules into technical requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle Financials.
  • Knowledge of financial data modeling and database structures.
  • Certifications like CBAP, CFA, CPA, or PMI-PBA.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements like GAAP and SOX compliance.
  • Basic knowledge of APIs, ETL tools, and integration between finance modules.
  • Experience in government or public-sector environments.
