Location 2121 7th Street, Parkersburg, WV, 26101, United StatesBase Pay $26.00 - $26.00 / HourEmployee Type Non-Exempt FTRequired Degree 4 Year DegreeTravel 10%Manage Others NoDescriptionThe Mobile Crisis Specialist provides rapid, clinic and community-based crisis response, assessment, and stabilization services to individuals of all ages, including children, adolescents, and adults experiencing behavioral health emergencies. Working as part of a mobile team, the specialist conducts risk assessments, de‑escalates crisis situations, and connects individuals and families with appropriate services to promote stabilization and safety.Note: Specialists who respond to child and adolescent crises primarily will also maintain a small caseload to provide short‑term follow‑up, coordination with family and school support, and linkage to ongoing care.RequirementsBachelor's degree in a human services discipline including psychology, sociology, criminal justice, or related field with a minimum of 12 hours of human services courseworkOne year of experience in behavioral health or crisis response preferredExperience working with both children and adults in clinical or community settingsValid driver's license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel throughout the catchment areaAbility to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays while participating in the on‑call rotationEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesInclude the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet the needs of the agency.Respond in clinic and on‑site to behavioral health crises involving children, adolescents, and adults in homes, schools, hospitals, and public settingsConduct developmentally appropriate clinical assessments for risk of suicide, self‑harm, violence, psychosis, substance use, and acute emotional distressDevelop and implement individualized crisis stabilization and safety plansDe‑escalate crisis situations and provide brief intervention, psychoeducation, and emotional supportCoordinate with families, caregivers, schools, and child‑serving systems to support stabilizationArrange referrals to outpatient services, psychiatric care, respite, or inpatient treatment as neededSpecialists serving youth will carry a small caseload to provide short‑term follow‑up and ensure coordination of ongoing servicesDocument all assessments, interventions, and referrals accurately and promptly in the electronic health recordParticipate in supervision, team meetings, and continuous quality improvement activitiesSkills and AbilitiesStrong clinical judgment and crisis intervention skills across age groupsAbility to build rapport and engage quickly with individuals and families in distressKnowledge of child and adolescent development and trauma‑informed careFamiliarity with local behavioral health, school, and child welfare systemsEffective written and verbal communication skillsProficiency with documentation and electronic health recordsPhysical RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
