Small Shop Chief

This position is located in a State ARNG Aviation Support Facility (AASS)/Aviation Classification Repair Activity Depot (AVCRAD)/Army Aviation Training Site (ATTS) Logistics Function. The purpose of this position is to serve as a Small Shop Chief (SSC) with the responsibility for the overall operations of a small shop. The position oversees and directs the work of WG-5378, Powered Support Systems Mechanics, who are assigned to the shop. The incumbent performs the full range of non-supervisory work of the shop.

Major duties include:

• Planning and laying out work to be accomplished in the shop which is then completed by the individual and lower graded worker(s).
• Possessing the knowledge and skills found at the journeyman level as well as those required for planning, accomplishing and maintaining a functional shop maintenance program.
• Performing the same type and level of work as performed within the unit.
• Implementing safety regulatory requirements. Ensuring that other workers in the shop wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions.
• Participating in various types of readiness preparations, inspections, evaluations, and mobilization and command support exercises.
• Performing other duties as assigned.
